New Contra: Operation Galuga Update Is Heading For Switch, Here Are The Patch Notes

Out now on other consoles, "coming soon" for Switch.

Konami and WayForward have today announced that a new update is on the way for Contra: Operation Galuga on Switch. As was the case with the launch update, the latest patch is available today on PS4, PS5, Xbox and Steam, but we'll have to wait a little longer before it comes to Switch.

We don't have a precise date for the Switch release yet outside of "soon," but we do know what it'll entail. The major issues targeted this time are a forced quit error, game freezes and music bugs, though the development team has also made a handful of tweaks to most of the stages in the hopes of improving the overall experience.

Random: We Didn't Know We Needed This Zelda: TOTK And Metal Slug Crossover

Boooooom!

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has been out for nearly a year now, but folks are still coming up with absolutely bonkers creations with the game's Ultrahand ability.

The latest is an incredible crossover with the Metal Slug franchise in which X user @saiotoko002 has actually recreated a faithful tank from the run 'n' gun franchise. It's not just for show either; like all great TOTK creations, the tank is fully operational and is able to fire lasers and bombs at poor, unsuspecting Bokoblins.

Reminder: Nintendo's Zelda: TOTK And Mario Wonder GDC Talks Are Now Online For Free

Catch up on the conference.

You might remember that last month, Nintendo came to the annual Game Developers Conference (GDC) armed with interesting talks about The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and Super Mario Bros. Wonder. Certain topics covered in these talks trickled out to those of us who weren't there, but we can now watch each of them in all of their glory online! For free!

Now yes, both of Nintendo's talks and many from other developers actually went live earlier this month, but it's never too late to catch up on some words of wisdom from some of the best brains in the biz (and the games in discussion aren't too shabby either).

Random: Kit And Krysta Show Off Their Immense DS And 3DS Collection

Including a few signed gems.

The DS and the 3DS both had incredible libraries of games, we all know this, but sometimes it's kind of nice to just see a whole bunch of them laid out nicely so we can gaze at them in wonder.

Thankfully, Kit and Kryta, former Nintendo employees and current, uh... Kit and Krysta hosts, have taken the time to show off their DS and 3DS collections, accumulated both in private and during their time at Nintendo.

The Pokémon Center's Giant Slowpoke Plush Is Getting A Restock

The Pokémon Center's Giant Slowpoke Plush Is Getting A Restock

Slowpoke used pre-order!

Just when we thought we were out, The Pokémon Company drags us back in. We don't have room for another giant Pokémon plush and yet the 59-inch Slowpoke (which you might remember came to Japan back in 2021) has us wondering whether we could make just a little bit of space for this gentle giant.

Now, this one actually came to Pokémon Centers a few years back, but the upcoming restock means that all those who missed out now have a chance to pick one up.

New Pepper Grinder Update Drills Onto Switch Soon, Here Are The Full Patch Notes

New timers! Boss tweaks! Bug fixes!

Devolver Digital's neo-retro platformer Pepper Grinder burrowed its way straight into our hearts (not as gruesome as it sounds) when it launched on Switch last month. We loved it.

In the time since, developer Ahr Ech has been hard at work on the game's first major update, patching some pesky bugs and introducing a smattering of new features. This update is already live on Steam and is expected to arrive on Switch "in the next few weeks" according to the dev.

Atari Is Reviving The 'Infogrames' Publishing Label

Atari Is Reviving The 'Infogrames' Publishing Label

The armadillo returns.

Atari has announced that it is reviving the dormant publishing label Infogrames, once famous for publishing games such as Hogs of War, Heart of Darkness, Alone in the Dark 2, and many more.

Though once one of the most recognisable publishers in Europe, the Infogrames name was ditched in favour of the Atari brand in 2009 following a merger between Infogrames and Atari Inc. one year prior. At the time, Atari Inc.'s CEO Jim Wilson said "We've gotten rid of the Infogrames and Atari duality, the confusion around that. We are one simplified company, under one management team, under one brand."

Random: This Switch Dock Prototype Moves Arcade Racers Up A Gear

Broom broom.

The Switch is no stranger to an arcade racer or two. While it's all well and good playing these with a standard Joy-Con or Pro Controller set-up, this latest dock prototype from Far East Pinball has left us firmly of the belief that the likes of Out Run should be played no other way.

Is it a pure novelty? Maybe. But the independent manufacturer's arcade-inspired add-on at least appears to be the most authentic way of capturing that driving cabinet feel from the comfort of your own home (albeit on a much smaller scale).

Review: Lunar Lander Beyond (Switch) - A Fresh Approach For Atari's Arcade Classic

Review: Lunar Lander Beyond (Switch) - A Fresh Approach For Atari's Arcade Classic

Minor turbulence.

Atari has had a very interesting few years, publishing a critically acclaimed 50th-anniversary collection in the form of a playable documentary, the ‘Recharged’ series of neo-retro revivals, and a handful of unique reinventions of its classic IPs. Lunar Lander Beyond from Cris Tales developer Dreams Uncorporated is the gaming pioneer’s latest and most polished retro overhaul to date.

Lunar Lander Beyond casts itself as a reboot of Atari’s iconic 1979 arcade game in which players navigate a spacecraft toward the surface of the Moon rendered in glorious monochrome vector graphics, using thrusters to slow the ship's descent and ultimately land safely (easier said than done) to score points. It’s a dawn-of-the-arcade-era classic that demands patience and precision.

Embracer Group To Split Into Three Separate Companies

Sullied name.

Embracer Group has announced its intention to split the company into three separate entities going forward in what seems to be a drastic attempt to streamline its operations and rebuild its reputation after months of downsizing and layoffs.

Announced via the official website (thanks, VGC), the company confirmed that each entity will be listed on Nasdasq Stockholm and will be called 'Asmodee', 'Coffee Stain & Friends', and 'Middle-earth Enterprises & Friends'.

Review: Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes (Switch) - An Immersive JRPG With Some Real Problems

Review: Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes (Switch) - An Immersive JRPG With Some Real Problems

The wait is over.

The PS1 played host to a staggering number of memorable and influential RPGs, one of which was Konami’s Suikoden. After that strong debut came a handful of sequels that eventually puttered out during the sixth generation of consoles, and Konami has virtually abandoned the series since. Not ones to be stifled, some key members of the Suikoden crew eventually left Konami and founded a new team called Rabbit & Bear, which started a successful crowdfunding campaign for this spiritual successor called Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes. After a four-year development cycle, Eiyuden Chronicle is finally in our hands and while it has its share of issues, this is overall a deeply enjoyable and nostalgic JRPG that we’re sure is going to get a lot of love.

The story is set in the fictional land of Allraan and begins by focusing on the rising tensions between the powerful imperial country of Galdea and a neighboring province called the League of Nations. Though there are technically three protagonists to this narrative, your main character to begin with is Nowa, a chipper young man from a quiet border village who joins a small peacekeeping military unit for the League of Nations. Nowa and his band go about their business quelling bandit raids and helping people to the best of their ability, but soon find themselves caught in the middle of much larger political tension that eventually gives way to war between the Empire and the League. To reclaim his homeland and avenge his losses, Nowa thus sets out to build a resistance and defeat the Galdeans.
